POET

I am
song and singer,
both the dance and dancer;
upon this barren branch - I am
the leaf.

Karina Klesko
Demoralizing Days

Winter
foil shimmers
in the jeweler's loupe,
frost facets clinging to diamond
foxfire.

Soddenl
like a shawl on grieving shoulders,
this desolate landscape
even deeper
rhiza.

Karina Klesko
Birth of a Poet

Spiders,
warts & wings --
alchemy of love wrapped
in a cocoon --alone, waiting
for spring

(a budding writer could not emerge from his chrysalis too soon --William Du Bois)

spilling
a milkweed pod,
the sweet silk of autumn
clings to dying leaves and keeps'
till spring

Coppice of Desire

I bear
shadows attached
forevermore, the day
that I may luster in the fire,
my love
Winter
sealed in silence--
Only the inner ear,
may hear a waspish song of spring
waking.

her basket filled

this day
opens anew
with spring sunrise colours
of Easter egg pink and blue, skies
cloudless

Birdwatching, Up Close

Endless,
my eyes searching
the long wooden slat bench..
Echoes of a whisper inside
my head

cramped in
tiny spaces
motionless with new thoughts -
a flash of sun glimmers leaves in
autumn

shaded
in their decline.
Waiting, I trace over
the lines on the palm of my hand,
life lines

a space
through the maples
occupied, I adjust
the lens on my binoculars
